I haven't been keeping up with my blog very well. Hoping to change that starting now. I am excited to be back on the SSYRA 6-8 committee. No, I can't give you any clues about titles we are reviewing but I can tell you that we will have a difficult decision to make come spring. I have liked or loved almost every single book I have reviewed so far- close to 70 books! Great job to all of you for recommending good titles! Want to recommend some titles for us to review in the future? Visit the FAME SSYRA website and fill out the form. Make sure the book follows the criteria described below:
Books suggested for the SSYRA list must:
• Be fiction (no non-fiction, poetry titles will be considered);
• Have an original US copyright date of 2018, 2019, or 2020;
• Be age-appropriate for either grades 3-5 or grades 6-8 (or both);
• Be the first in a series (if it is part of a series);
• Have literary merit and appeal to young readers;
• Have received a favorable review in at least one of the following reviewing publications: Booklist, Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books, Hornbook, Kirkus, or School Library Journal
